Ms. Skinner was born in New Orleans and is a life-long resident of the city. Ms. Skinner’s practice of 20 years has included a full range of maritime, oilfield, casualty, and insurance matters. She spent twelve years with the maritime and insurance defense firm Gelpi, Sullivan, Carroll & Gibbens, and then worked seven years with the Fowler Rodriguez firm. In 2010, Ms. Skinner joined the Miller Law Firm and opened its New Orleans office.

She is an experienced litigator and trial attorney specializing in the defense of both maritime (including Jones Act, Longshore and Harbor Workers Act, and general maritime law) and land-based claims in state and federal courts. She also represents companies in the enforcement and defense of maritime liens, and the preparation and negotiation of maritime and oilfield contracts. Her clients include companies, protection and indemnity clubs, London market syndicates, and other insurers.

Ms. Skinner was named by New Orleans Magazine as one of the top lawyers in New Orleans and her peers have selected her to hold an "AV "peer rating in Martindale-Hubbell. She is active in local maritime industry organizations. Ms. Skinner is past chair of the Admiralty & Maritime Law Committee of the Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association.
